Week 96

So holy cow, we've only got 2 more weeks, but I still don't think it's hit me, maybe it will on my transfer day.

But this week we did alot of moving people, so that was good. I always enjoy getting to help people move.  Also this week someone took us out to dinner at a local diner which is famous for their burger called the Triple By-pass...  So that's what i had.  It was wild how big this sucker was, and even wilder that i finished it.  I'm still digesting that monster.  Just thought i'd mention that. :)

So i gave my farewell talk yesterday, which makes a total of 3 talks i've given in this ward.  It was about Being Converted versus being fully converted.
The past 2 weeks at church we've had several college kids come to our sacrament meeting, probably for some course they're taking, but still its cool that they chose our church to visit.

Well, that's all i got for now

Week 95

Well, this week has been pretty slow... Started off with P-day, so not much got done.   Then we had my last Zone Conference, so I gave my departing testimony, that was pretty crazy... this being my last transfer didn't hit me until then.  Zone Con lasted all day so nothing got done that day.
Anyhow, then Elder Dalton got sick, so not much got done on Wednesday.  Then the rest of the week no one was home as per the usual...
But we did have 6 non members at sacrament meeting!  So that was pretty cool.  Most of them were college students who came to get a requirement done though... But still they came.

Welp, i ain't got nothing else... So

Week 94

This week was pretty good, kinda... We had a booth at the county fair every night this last week, which may seem like a good thing, except that the place our booth was assigned was pretty much hidden that we didn't even get to talk to anyone who was interested the first 3 days there...  the weekend brought a couple of people though, so the fair wasn't a Total bust.

We also had exchanges with the ZL's last week, so i was with Elder Carlson, my MTC companion...  We both go home in a month so having him around kinda made me trunky...  Silly exchanges.

While tracting this week we found a lady who seems really interested and is looking for a church, so we invited her to come to ours, and I really thought she was going to come, but she didn't... We'll see her tonight or tomorrow.

Well, that's all I can think of.

Love Y'all!

Week 93

So this week was pretty crazy.  We had two tornado warning's complete with siren's going off.  The first had a TON of lightning, like almost constant to where it was basically bright enough to see and do whatever outside,  But no tornado touched down.
The second one however happened during the day, it was completely calm and nice outside when we got the text saying there was a tornado warning until whatever time, then slowly it starts to get cloudy and windy and stuff, the sky turns greenish and we look out our side door, and we see a huge foggy cloud of rain coming at us... Super hardcore rain for like 15 minutes and super windy.  then the ZL's called with a member telling us to go and sit in the tub cause there was a tornado that touched down in murray.  So I guess you could say that crap got real...  But we lived, so it's all good.  The funny part about it was that the only person from our ward who texted to check up on us was a less active that we see every once in a while...  we had more people worried about us in the adjacent wards... Ha.

In other news, our ward split yesterday, not because we had too many member's but because there was another building that the church had already built a long time ago that they decided to use again.  So now our ward will have like 50 active people or so...  things are gonna be really different around here.

Clint Proposed this week!  So they should be getting married soon so Jessi can get baptized.

Thomas Jones, my first convert, is going through the temple this saturday too!!! So hopefully i can find someone who can take us there for it, but I have my doubts now that the ward just got halved.

Well, That's all for now!

Week 92

Well, i'm staying here in Murray with Elder Dalton, so he's gonna be killing me off.

Some big'ish news, they are making a new unit in our stake soon!  this next sunday we'll be going to the stake center to hear about where it'll be and such.    We already have a building that wasn't in use for a while that I think they will put it at.  It's in a place called Possum Trot....  haha..

Clint (Jessi's boyfriend and the greenes son) has finally gotten a ring!  So he's gonna propose really soon apparently.

We get to take the Old people to walmart this week...  Haha, that should be fun.

Well, that's all I got today guys...

Love Ya'll!
-Elder Martin

Week 91

That's all that is left...  It's super crazy to think about.

We saw Wesley again this week, this visit was a bit more confrontational I suppose.  We think his preacher may have been talking to him cause he ask's these super out there question's that someone like him would never come up with on his own.  So next time we see him i'm gonna get the truth out of him, and then give him the truth....

This week at the old people place we did another outing... We took them to the Murray State Arboretum,  just a big ol' garden place...  It's actually pretty nice there, though it was pretty hot and humid that day.  Nothing really crazy happened with the old people this time.

Well... there's not much else that is noteworthy to mention.  So ya'll get another small email.

Love Ya!
-Elder Martin

Week 90

I went back to Paris for exchanges again,  But this time i was with Elder Massey.  He's really cool.  We didn't see like anyone though... No one was home ALL day, it was lame.

Other then that we finally were able to see Jessi again, she still really wants to get baptized and Clint is finally thinking about proposing so she can get baptized.

Well... Other then that, i really can't think of anything that was noteworthy enough to write about.  I'm sure there was something, but not that i can remember.

Love Ya'll!

Week 89

Just your average day in Kentucky.

Week 88

This week was pretty good, we played cards and ultimate frisbee for p-day which was fun, but i'm more out of shape then i was hoping... :(

On tuesday we got a text from someone in our phone who I didn't know that asked if we could meet up and talk, so we were kinda hesitant about the whole thing because i've heard that there are some people in the phone who just like to bash.  Anywho, we go over and have a good visit with him and we're also going back tomorrow.

At the old people place this week some old lady was yelling at me... she was crazy.  Like legitimately.

We had stake conference this week which was really good i thought, it was all about missionary work and getting the wards to be more involved because apparently this stake has been slacking lately with member help, therefore it's been slacking in baptism's.  The adult session on saturday was especially rebuke-full.

So on yesterday i woke up and i was half deaf in one ear... it somehow got all clogged up, i can feel alot of pressure in that ear.  So i've been trying to do stuff to get it all cleared up.  It's sooooo annoying to not be able to hear out of an ear.

Last thing, while i was in the bathroom trying to fix my ear this morning, Elder Dalton knocked on the door and said something, i couldn't hear it though because of my deaf ear... Well when i get out our front door is wide open and i can't find Elder Dalton!!!  couldn't find him outside either, but he left his toast in the toaster so i knew he'd be back.  Well after a minute or so he comes back and say's something about the cops.  I guess our neighbor (The one who we started teaching!!!) went crazy and was trying to open our car door's and then came to our door and asked elder Dalton to call the cops cause Jimmy was stuck under a log, she's all hysterical at this point.  So He goes out to try to help, and he lift's this little log that supposedly jimmy is under, and nothing... there's nothing.  So she starts getting even more crazy and makes him call the cops, so he does (because she's insane and probably need's help herself) and cops come and help her out or something...  And all this while i was putting ear drops in my ear...  I missed it all.  But i did see the cops outside so i guess it really did happen.

That's all i got this week

Love ya'll!

Week 87

Hey howdy hey!

Things are going well here.  Elder Dalton is great, we get along really well.

So we took the taxi up to Franklin for transfer's again, I Finally got my bike back after 15 months.... So that's good.

This week we did a good bit of service which i really enjoyed,  We took the old people to Mary's Kitchen, your average trucker's diner... So that was something.  Old people are so funny.

We are teaching this part member family, The Smiths, and they are pretty sweet, Coy isn't a member but we found out last night that he even passes out Books of Mormon at work!?!?  I'm not sure what his hold up is...  He love's the church and the people but for some reason he wont come to church.  So we're gonna work with him alot this transfer probably.

Jessi is still doing pretty good, we might have to push her date back again.  We are seeing her tonight so we'll see what happens.

Other then that there's not much.

Love Ya'll!
-Elder Martin

Week 86

Well, transfer's is here yet again, and i'm am getting a new companion yet again... Elder Allen is leaving and going to Smyrna TN and i'm getting Elder Dalton who's apparently been out for 6 months and is another 18 year old...   So maybe i'll send a picture of me and the new guy next week.

Anywho, this last week was pretty good!  I went to Paris on Exchanges with Elder Longhurst, so that was really good.
 Inline image 1

We had an easter activity thing with the ward, that was pretty cool i guess.
Other then that though, it was mostly Elder Allen saying goodbye to the people here.

Sorry for the lame letter
Love Ya'll
-Elder Martin

Week 85

Well Hello everybody!

This week was pretty good, We had a zone meeting where there was a competition between the districts to see who had the most LA's in their teaching pools.  Well anyways, we won the competition, so we got to pick out something nasty and had all the other missionaries in the zone who lost eat it.  So we choose these gross octopus tentacle things...

Anyways other then that we have these neighbors who just moved in next door and we started teaching them, and their younger kids just Love us.  The younger boy just had a birthday yesterday so they invited us over for his party so we stopped by for a little bit and just as we were walking over the kid was riding on his new bike and he power slid into a car!  Hahaha, it was pretty funny.  It was a parked car, so don't get all in a hissy, it's not like i'm laughing cause he got ran over.

We re-set the baptismal date with Jessi for May 10th.  She had a really cool experience about praying to be baptized.  So i think she'll for sure get baptized then!

We have this bird who's made a nest right outside our door on our porch, we call him Gregory, anyways we always find him there at night so we took a video of him that is found below.  But for some reason when I put it on the computer it made the video sideways and i don't want to find out how to fix it.  So you can fix it if you want or just watch it side ways...  Also sorry for the poorish resolution, it was taken from my iPad.

Also, i'm going to Paris TN on Exchanges later today until Wednesday, so just pray for me that i won't get thrown up on anymore!

Picture of me playing some billiards at an Old man's workshop.  That's Kentucky for ya!

Week 84

Hello all!

Well, this week has been interesting.  Not a lot of success.  In fact Amanda, the lady who seemed really promising dropped us after saying she prayed about the Book of Mormon and believed it to be true...  So we suspect someone else has been anti'ing her or something...

So the other day we went to this one place that a member told us to go try and tract. (She also warned us of this super crazy lady who goes by Toy)  So we get out of the car and immediately this lady comes out of her house and say's
"Hey! are you missionaries?'
'Why yes, yes we are!'
So we found out she used to live by missionaries in the past and would talk with them a lot.  She gave us some apples (Which was nasty.. tasted like paint or something) and told us she just wanted to give us something to eat but expressly said she didn't want us to visit her and talk with her about the gospel.  Alright whatever lady...
So we knock the house across the way and talk to them for a bit, then as we are about to knock the next house the apple lady come's back out and say's
"Hey! Are ya'll hungry? i have some roast beef, come get a roast beef sandwhich!'
And it was dinner time so we hesitantly accepted.
Anyway she invites us in (didn't she just minutes ago so she didn't want to talk to us?) and is real creepy about the whole thing so we hurry and get back out cause we found out she was alone anyways.
Long story short, this lady was the crazy, like legitimately looney crazy, lady Toy.  And crazy she was.

This week with the old people home we helped them make some grilled cheese sandwich's...  Old people man...  I Dominated them in sandwich making.

We also went to a Church Of Christ service after Conference on sunday.  They were alot nicer then i thought they would be.  And while the dude was preaching, one of the scriptures he read lead me to the following verse which is actually a really good pre-earth life scripture!  So there ya go!

Here's my shoe before and after!  i thought about just buying new shoes, but i only have 3 months left so i figured i'd just live with it.

While i'm sending pictures, i might as well send some more... so here ya go!

Nash Vegas!!!   I can't ever get a good picture of it, in fact most of the time i forget my camera when i go by it.

Week 83

Hey howdy!
This week was pretty good, we found some good seeming investigators, had Zone Conference, i went on exchanges with the ZL's, or Elder Carlson to be precise, which if ya'll remember he was my MTC companion!  So that was way fun.

So at Zone Conference it was all good and great and everything, but i keep my pen hooked onto my shirt under my button's because my pocket isn't big enough to fit it... Well my pen came out of the lid and i didn't find out till who know's how long later... so my shirt was ruined with red ink Everywhere on my shirt, and i only brought that shirt for the exchange that was happening right after zone-con.  So i had to buy a new one in Paducah.  Then the next day while i'm still in paducah, just barely got my new shirt and a recent convert called and asked if he could take us out for dinner.  Sweet!  So we find out he just picked up his kids and he also just got a brand new puppy for his daughter...  I'm sitting in the back next to this little girl and her new puppy while Elder Carlson is up front.  So we go to this place called Catfish Kitchen a few miles outside of town,  and everyone knows i don't like fish... Well luckily they also had some chicken tenders.  But the Recent Convert guy, James, wants us to experience Kentucky so he orders some frog legs for us to eat as well....  Shoot dang, it was nasty.  but i ate half of it and took the other half home.
So after dinner we get to the car to find that the puppy pooped all over the seat, Luckily it wasn't my seat, Haha, but James was a champ about it so he just cleaned it up and off we go with me in back next to the girl again.  About 1 minute away from our car this little girl kinda looks at me and say's
"I don't feel so good" and grabs a jacket and puts it over her mouth.
So i'm thinking to myself 'Nah, she's just messin' with me."
Then she starts to look real queasy and i think that stuff's about to get real.  She's still looking in my direction!!!  so i try my darnedest to get her to look the other way at her brother instead of me and then it happens...  Projectile vomit all over, but luckily she looked more straight ahead at that second so i was able to nimbly avoid almost all of it.   Round 2! A lot more projectile vomit comes and get's all over my shoes and somehow it cover's my right butt cheek too...  She also got throw up all over her puppy the first time and before i could get out of the car when we got to Our car, the dog somehow got behind me on the seat and then jumped on my shoulder and then got stuck in between my back and the seat.

And there you have it...  the story of how i lost an entire outfit on a single exchange.

Oh and later that night we get home and we find the most random thing crawling by our door...   A Craw-dad!?!?!  The heck?!  there isn't even water anywhere near their apartments!

Well, that'll be all for this week, sorry for the long story that took up the whole letter :)

Love Ya'll
-Elder Martin

Week 82

Hey Howdy!

This week was pretty good, We've done alot more walking this week due to low miles for our car, but it's good with the somewhat decent weather.  So as a result we've talked to alot of new people.  Several of which this week have laughed because of our message, Elder Allen doesn't like that very much.  But they'll be judged for how the accept of reject the books given us from God.

On thursday, we go to the old folks home and do some service there every week... And man, old people are pretty funny...  But at the same time old people creep me out.  This thursday we get to play Uno with them :) i'm going to DOMINATE!!! My skill and prowess at uno is unmatched, these oldies won't know what hit 'em.

So We had this Dessert Auction thing for a fundraiser for the youth here.  It was pretty fun, a few people gave us some money to use in the auction, we just pocketed it.      Haha nah jk...  But the pie we got we gave to our neighbor who just moved in.  So hopefully that'll soften their hearts enough to listen to our message.

So like i said last week, we both had to give talk's yesterday, it was like a missionary Sunday or something, so we (as well as one other person) gave talk's about Conversion, such as conversion stories and just about conversion in general.  Well the first person told her conversion story and it took like 30 minutes or more, so by the time she was done there was 10 minutes left of Sacrament meeting, and i was the last speaker.  So Elder Allen goes up give's his talk for 10 minutes, Then we had a musical number that probably lasted like 5 minutes, so by the time it was my turn all the time was gone, i half expected them to just tell me not to give my talk.  But i got up there and said i had a pretty lengthy talk prepared, Because i did... I had like a 20 minute talk prepared.  So i told everybody to just buckle up...  then i was like "nah, just joking' and said a quote from PMG and gave a real short testimony.   It was good though.

Welp, that's all for now

Week 81

Hey Howdy Hey!

So uhh, ya know how i said Elder Allen and I would be training?  Well, the Missionary we were going to train apparently went home from the MTC like right before they left on the plain out here... So its just us two now...

But other then that it's been a pretty good week.  The weather has been crazy, like every other day its either Super nice and in the 70's or super cold and windy and rainy and crummy.

Okay, so get this...  My first time in murray last transfer i gave a talk in sacrament meeting.  And already next week we have to give talks... I'll have been to this ward 4 times and have given 2 talks...  Silly Murray.

We've been focusing alot of less actives as a zone this past week, so that's been good!  Already found a few who just needed 1 visit and said they'd come to church... They must've been getting prepared for a while if all they needed was a simple "Hey, how about that church?"

We have 2 people that should be getting baptized here soon, Jessi Phifer and Richard Floyd.  So i'm excited for that.

Welp!! that'll be all for now

Love Ya'll
-Elder Martin

Week 80

Hello dear family!

Yes, I am finally going back to my area!  Back with elder Allen, but
elder Evans isn't gonna be there.  Instead elder Allen and I will be
training a new missionary.  So that should be pretty fun!  Well, only
unless the new guy is a total tool...  We'll see.

This week has been pretty good, did a good bit of service in the
colder days, so that's always great! The service, not the colder
days...

But yeah, this area has even pretty good to me, met a lot of cool
people, learned a good bit about a lot of things.  Oh and get this!
So there is a famous actress named Juliane Hough, she is apparently a
Mormon, but her sister who I think also may have been in some movies
is in this ward!!!  She's inactive, but still, I thought it was pretty
neat.

Welp, until next time!
Love y'all!!

-elder Martin

Here's me last pday!  Taken from my iPad
Here's me looking at a picture I painted one day for comp study :)

Week 79

Hello there!  So, as you may notice later on, I am writing from my
iPad!  Pretty stinking sweet.  So yeah, I finally had my interview
with president and got this bad boy.

In other news, this ward is sweet! It's pretty much as big as a ward
from Idaho or Utah.  Tons of younger people which marks it more fun I
guess.  So yeah, mostly all we've done here is meet with tons of the
members to get to know them, they really really focus on member help
here which is good.  We've done a good bit of service which is also
great, I love doing service.

They also do this church tour thing here which I thought is a great
idea! They invite non members and less actives to the church on like a
Thursday and just give them a tour.  But, you sneak in basically the
whole first lesson while doing it.  So it's pretty sweet.   Whelp,
until next time when I'll most likely be in a different area!!!

Love y'all!
-Elder Martin.

Oh shoot son!!!

Week 78

Hey howdy hey!
So, Tomorrow we were supposed to have our interviews in Gallatin, but in true Elder Martin fashion, I got ETed again to Thompson Station where another elder had medical problems and had to go home. So i yet again get Jewwed out of an interview and my iPad...  Oh well.
So i don't have much to talk about... the people that we were teaching that i did happen to meet while in Gallatin all went to jail this past week, So that's a thing.
The weather was super great last week though... like Super great, 60's and low 70's and a tornado and stuff!
Oh, and i'm with Elder Cherry now.  He seems really cool so far, so it should be a good couple of weeks.
Welp, that's all i got folks.
Love Ya'll

Week 77

Hey howdy hey!
So last tuesday morning is when i left for Gallatin, it was 7 degree's in Murray, i get to gallatin and BOOM 48 or so degrees...  and its been about that or higher ever since.  So that's been pretty great.
We've had some pretty crazy times already here in Gallatin, i'm with Elder Cragun (from the MTC!!!) which is sweet, I've always wanted to serve with him.
We had this MLC meeting on Sunday with all the ZL's in the mission and all the stake presidents and Elder Meredith, the Area 70.  And since i'm chilling with the ZL's i went.  It was a good meeting, it was mainly just about goal's for the mission and such.
We also had this "Meet the Mormons" night at our church which was great, we had i think over 20 investigators there.  President Andersen spoke, and then Brother Halverson spoke... Brother Halverson is the CES guy for the area and holy cow....  He was incredible.  He did a Q&A thing after his presentation which he blew away everyone with.  He's one of the smartest people about the gospel that i think I've ever met!  So it was great listening to him
As for what will happen with where i'll be after this whole thing gets done.  I'll be going back to Murray most likely sometime next week.
That's all for now folks!
Love Ya'll!
-Elder Martin

Week 76.5

Sooo uhh, crazy crap happened today and i just found out that i'm getting ET'd tomorrow to Gallatin TN to be a zone leader for a couple of weeks while the guy i'm replacing is getting surgery and recovering from a knee or ankle or something.

Thought i'd let ya'll know

Love ya'll

-Elder Martin

Week 76

Hello everyone!

This past week was pretty good.  On monday we went to the Greene family's for dinner.  They also are really good friends with our most progressing investigator who lives with them, Jessi.  So we had a really good visit with them, good lesson and everything.  But whilst we were talking to them we found out that Sis. Greene dated Billy ray Cyrus back in the day!   Haha, so that was pretty crazy.

We have been getting a good bit of snow and rain and ice here, and its so funny cause we have a ton of people cancel on us because they think the roads are too bad for us to drive on.  They totally aren't that bad at all but they insist on us not driving out to them.  Haha.

In other news we have Interviews this thursday.  At interviews we are getting our own iPad mini's! So that'll be sweet!  Do you have your iPads yet cameron?!  HA!  didn't think so, but then again i'm not sure because you haven't sent me an email in like a month.

But it was actually a pretty slow week due to the weather and errbody canceling on us.

We get to go play volleyball today though, so hopefully that'll be good and we actually get to play.

Welp, that's all for now.

Love Ya'll
-Elder Martin

Week 75

Well, first week in Murray was pretty crazy!

But first, the day of transfers... we couldn't get a ride to transfer meeting (Which was uber lame) so we had to drive ourselves...  so 320 miles (round trip) later we made it.

We had district meeting in Paris TN, which is a pretty small town too, but they have an eiffel tower replica which is pretty neat!

Anywho, so every thursday we do service at this old folks home nearby, Its pretty funny going there... Old people are so crazy.  Its great for self-esteem though!  Cause you go in there and every single old lady is hitting on you... haha.  It smells real bad like old people though.

And then on friday morning we call this guy, Bro Steinfeld, to see if we can come and see him.
"Hey Bro. Steinfeld, how are ya!?
Not good at all, i just had a stroke last night."  .... What the heck!?
"Oh no! have you been to a hospital?"
'I don't go to hospitals..."
'Bro steinfeld, thats sounds pretty serious, we think you should probably go get it looked at!"
'Nah, i'm alright... i'll make it."
"you sure you're alright?"
'Well, i cant see, and i can't talk right... but i'll be fine."

And by the way, this guy apparently wants to die, like he's just tired of being around nowadays, its a sad situation.
So anyways, we set up an appt. with him at 230 that afternoon to see if he's alright and give him a blessing.  But we get a call around 1 cause someone needed help moving, so we go help them move and we don't get done till about 4, so we go see bro steinfeld a little later then we had planned.
so we get there

Knock knock, then after a couple of minutes he finally answers.
"Its too late... i cant do it anymore." so that was Super sad
Then we talk for a bit he invites us in after saying that we cant come in, he refuses a blessing. and after a bit we leave.
Well, the next day he calls and he sounds alot better and he wants to come and give him a blessing now.  So we do.  But at the end he was like You guys wanna learn a cool secret handshake?
"sure why not"  This guy is just a old crazy man so we decide to humor him.
so he takes elder evans' hand and does 2 of the temple hand shakes?!?! Elder evans is just so taken aback by it all he doesn't even know what to do.  It was soooo crazy weird!  Crazy times in murray.

Well, i guess that'll be all for this week

Love Ya'll!

-Elder Martin

Week 74

Getting transfered again... there's nothing worse then only staying 1 transfer in an area. Especially one you like, also especially one who's work is finally picking up. But thats the story of my mission... Other then that though, we went back to bardwell and saw some of the peeps from this last round, and all of them that we saw were super open and we have return appointments with them all this thursday! which is Awesome. Wayne and Brittany still want us to come over and talk to them, but they are super busy so they always have to cancel last minuteish, lame. well, Love ya'll -elder martin

Week 73

This past week has been pretty good, we saw a good bunch of people.

We went on exchanges this week, i was with an Elder Fisher...  Kind of a tool, but it's all right.

We were tracting and using the prepare the way survey's and we came to this black guys house, he invited us in and he filled out the survey, said yes on the survey to the first 3 questions which go somewhat like
"If Jesus had established his same church from the NT in these later days would you be interested in learning more?"
"Families are forever, wanna learn more"
"Something about the book of Mormon, interested??"
"two young people will come by and give you the information requested, interested?"

Now those are obviously not verbatim, but you get the just of them...

So he said yes to the first three on the survey and then he wanted to just talk for a bit more, so we sat down and talked for about 30 or 40 minutes.  Then as we were leaveing he said "You guys come back now!"
haha... just funny to me cause he said no on the survey to us coming back.

We also found a guy who's inactive who's been in hiding, his name isn't on our records yet.  So that was cool.

Then yesterday we had prepare the way with the youth back up in Bardwell, it went really well, the youth enjoyed it, got some good stories, and a bunch of 4 yes'ers.

But, i don't want to make it too long so i'll end it there,

love Ya'll

Week 72

So for starters, to answer the question from last week, only 5 people even guessed........  Mom and Melanies kids...  That's it...  so ya'll are lame.

Morgan actually got it right! The answer is that he was dead, the monkey was dead, naturally resulting in him falling out of the tree.
He will win a mega high five when i get back

Anywho, we didn't have water until tuesday evening.  So that was really lame.  but it could've been worse.

So this week we had Zone meeting in Paducah, which was just your average zone meeting i guess. Then later that day we talked to the youth about going back up to bardwell for the prepare the way thing that we were doing on Saturday, But we ended up having to reschedule for the 20th. MLK jr day, So i'll report on that next time i email probably.

At church we got a referral from a recentish convert, so that should be great!  We are going over to his house to teach this guy on Friday.

We also have alot of service opportunities coming up soon which will be good.

Things are picking up!  i'm excited for that.

Well, i guess that'll be all for now

Love Ya'll!

Week 71

Well hello everybody!

So this week has been quite slow, due to the holidays people still don't want us to bother them... Which is pretty lame.  But this upcoming week we already have a ton planned so lets just hope nobody bonks on us.

We had our Super P-day on new years where we just hung out with the zone all day and got to sleep in and even got to watch a movie!  We watched Monsters University, it was alright... but i would've preferred to watch despicable me 2.... got out voted.

The day after new years it got pretty cold, maybe to like 15 or something, and the pipes here apparently are light weights and froze, so we had no water that day... that was super lame.

And again today, its colder then its been in 20 years here at 2 degree's and so the pipes are once again frozen.  I really hope they thaw enough to take a shower tomorrow. :(
Man, the bottom half of my 2 pairs of top thermals would be great right about now... :) Hahaha, silly mom

We are going up to Bardwell with the youth this weekend to do more of the prepare the way survey things, so that should be good, unless the weather stays like this.

And now to finish i have a joke!  the first one to send me the correct answer wins a prize!

Why did the monkey fall out of the tree?

That's all for now!

Week 70

Well, as i'm sure all of you know,  We talked to each other on Christmas, so i'll only update you on what's happened since then.

First, on the day after Christmas, i got a stomach bug or food poisoning or something cause i was super sick and throwing up all day... It was awful... But i am Super glad and thankful that it waited till after Christmas :)
So ever since then i'I've been sick, not to that degree but sick none the less.

We went back up to the Town Bardwell, (which is about 1 1/2 hours from our apartment) to see some people that the youth found doing a Prepare the Way thing, but they were all either sick or not home.  But it was still good.

Church was good, a lot of new faces showed up (new to elder Cox since everyone is still new to me) So that was quite good.

The ward is doing a new years eve party which we are able to go to as long as someone drives us so that should be fun!
2014 here i come!!!

Week 69

So, my week was actually very similar to Camerons... down to the crazy crazy rain where you literally could not see 5 feet in front of you it was so bad!

The youth do something pretty sweet over here, they go around knocking on doors and passing out this 4 question survey about the church and if they want 2 young people to come and tell them more about whats on the surveys.  They call it "Prepare the way".  i think it's awesome.
Anywho, we went over to one of the people who filled out a survey and taught them the second lesson and they love it!  they love the restoration and the Plan of Salvation... So they are one of our most promising investigators, at least that i've met so far.

I really like the ward here though, alot more country and stuff.  The phrase "southern hospitality" comes to mind.  Some of the nicest people here.  Also some of the not so nicest though...   In fact there is a place in Union city (which we live in) called eastgate, and apparently it's super bad over there, drug cartel stuff... like the cops don't drive near there after dark and such.  So we figured "They need the gospel more than anyone!  So we will go and proselyte there alot this next couple of weeks. The cops said we need to ware Kevlar vest's though, which they will provide.  So that'll be fun

Anywho, i cant think of much else to write right now.

P.S.
JK about the eastgate, we aren't allowed to go there.  :D
